Kuala Lumpur: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) is free to chart its own path, says Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, after the Sabah party decided to leave Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“We’ve never stopped any party from deciding their own path. Every party has the right to pick their desired path.

“We thank STAR (for their contributions to PN) and wish them good luck,” he told reporters outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters here today.

Wan Fayhsal, who is also the Machang MP, said STAR’s departure from PN will not affect the coalition.

On Monday, STAR president Jeffrey Kitingan said the party will leave PN following its decision to support the unity government led by Anwar Ibrahim.

STAR is also a component of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition, which is led by Sabah Bersatu but also backs Anwar’s government.

Kitingan is the sole STAR MP.
