Tuaran: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) will ensure their supporters vote in favour of Datuk Joniston Bangkuai for the Tuaran parliamentary seat, here.

Star Secretary General Edward Linggu Bukut said as part of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), the members need to remain committed to their allies to ensure strong cooperation with the Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery.

“This stance signifies the united support among Kadazandusun voters, especially from Tamparuli and Kiulu state seats, towards GRS in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“Joniston is the ideal choice to represent Tuaran at the federal level due to his outstanding leadership and dedication in prioritising the needs of the people regardless of their background,” he said, at a joint meeting of GRS-BN supporters in Kg Tambalugu.

Also present were Tuaran Division Umno Deputy Head cum Pantai Dalit assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya; Deputy Head of Bersatu Tuaran Division Datuk Abdul Kassim Razali; and Joniston, as Kiulu assemblyman.

He said support of Bersatu and Umno in Tuaran for Joniston was fully supported by the Chief Minister cum GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor and Tuaran Umno Division Chief, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan. While addressing supporters, Joniston urged GRS and BN supporters to bridge the gap to avoid creating ‘enemies’ with each other and work together to bring victory to Tuaran.

“This election is not just about me. The success we will achieve is for all members and supporters of GRS and BN as well as the community in Tuaran regardless of their racial and religious backgrounds.

“Therefore, we all have an important role to play, and we cannot be complacent. We must continue to develop our strength and machinery until we reach the finish line,” he said.

Joniston will be contesting against Tuaran incumbent Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (Pakatan Harapan) as well as Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas (Warisan), Muminin Kalingkong @ Norbinsha (Pejuang), Bobby Lewat (independent ) and Datuk Noortaip Suhaili (independent).
