Kota Kinabalu: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) has urged all parties to cooperate constructively rather than blame each other in the fight to uphold Sabah’s constitutional rights within Malaysia.

Star Karambunai Division Chief, Datuk Kapitan Stephen Teo, said Star President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan had consistently fought for the restoration of Sabah’s rights under MA63, even becoming a target of the Federal authorities.

“This is not about party politics, but a fundamental issue that concerns the interests of the people of Sabah as a whole,” said Stephen, who is also Star’s Labuan Parliamentary Coordinator.

He was responding to remarks by Penampang AMK Chief, Eldridge Laurence Timis, who through a local news portal, called on Dr Jeffrey not to blame Putrajaya for the problems faced by Sabah when touching on the “Sabah for Sabahan” issue.

“It is important to remember that Sabah’s challenges cannot be solved merely by finger-pointing.

“What is needed is courageous, honest leadership that is willing to fight for Sabah’s rights without compromise,” he said, thanking the youth for showing interest in getting involved in matters concerning Sabah’s rights.

Stephen said Star believes in the importance of cooperation between the Federation and Sabah, but such cooperation must be based on mutual respect for rights and powers as enshrined in MA63 — an agreement Dr Jeffrey has tirelessly championed.

He further called on the people of Sabah and Labuan to continue supporting Star’s struggle, especially in the coming election.

“This is an opportunity to ensure Sabah’s voice is stronger and respected.

“The struggle for Sabah’s rights is not for individual interests, but for a better, more prosperous, and sovereign life for the people within the Federation of Malaysia.

Together with Star, we uphold Justice for Sabah,” he stressed.
