Starbucks to lay off more corporate and remote employees in latest restructuring

  • Starbucks announced it will lay off 224 corporate and remote employees from its Seattle headquarters between Oct. 19 and Nov. 1, 2026.
  • The cuts include 120 staff members who opted not to relocate to a new corporate office in Nashville, alongside 104 remote workers, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice obtained by The Independent.
  • This represents the eighth round of layoffs in Washington state over the past two years, bringing total regional job losses to more than 2,500.
  • The workforce reductions align with CEO Brian Niccol's strategic efforts to reduce non-retail headcount and cut corporate expenses.
  • Despite general consumer cutbacks on dining out, Starbucks' stock price has outperformed all major U.S. restaurant brands this year.
