Starmer slams Farage over response to Henry Nowak murder – what he said

  • Sir Keir Starmer has strongly criticised Reform UK leader Nigel Farage for his "unforgivable" response to the murder of Henry Nowak, accusing him of exploiting the tragedy for division.
  • Farage refused to condemn violent protests in Southampton, which injured 11 police officers and a police dog, after he called for "pure cold rage" in response to Nowak's death.
  • The Prime Minister echoed Henry Nowak's father's plea not to exploit his son's murder to incite hatred, stating that Farage's appeal for "rage" was wrong, especially given the family's wishes.
  • Vickrum Digwa, 23, was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering 18-year-old Henry Nowak, who was handcuffed while dying after Digwa falsely claimed racial abuse.
  • An officer involved in the incident has resigned after footage showed police handcuffing Nowak as he lay dying, a scene Sir Keir Starmer described as making him "sick".
