  • UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has criticised US President Donald Trump's threats to “wipe out a whole civilisation” in the Iran war.
  • Speaking to ITV’s Robert Peston, Sir Keir said: “They are not words I would use, ever use, because I come at this with our British values and principles.”
  • His comments come ahead of King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit to the US later this month, where they are expected to meet with the US president.
  • Sir Keir also called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and urged Israel to cease bombing Lebanon, which he believes is jeopardising the fragile ceasefire.
  • He admitted that the full details of the ceasefire deal between Iran and the US are not clear to him or other allies.
