SHAH ALAM, May 21 — Yayasan Hijrah Selangor has channelled over RM326 million in business financing to young entrepreneurs over the past decade, helping more than 34,000 recipients and enabling many to transition from micro ventures to successful enterprises.
The amount accounts for 37.8 per cent of the RM863 million in total financing disbursed since Hijrah Selangor’s inception in 2015.
To date, over 61,000 entrepreneurs across all age groups statewide have benefited from the programme through more than 92,000 loans.
The milestone was celebrated during the Selangor-level National Youth Day 2025 event at KSL Esplanade Mall, Klang on Sunday, the third stop in Hijrah Selangor’s 10 Years of Excellence campaign.
At the event, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, accompanied by Hijrah Selangor chief executive officer Dato’ Mearia Hamzah, presented awards to five outstanding youth entrepreneurs, whose businesses span aquaculture, catering, vehicle maintenance, wedding planning, and retail.
The awardees — Chen Wei Cong, K. Kuna Prasad, Muhammad Ismat Zainuddin, Muhammad Hairul Mintani, and Nur Izzati Mohd Salaini — each shared stories of resilience and growth with support from Hijrah Selangor’s financing schemes.
“The recognition given to these five outstanding young entrepreneurs reflects the state government’s continued efforts, through Hijrah Selangor, to empower youth with comprehensive financial support and guidance in the field of entrepreneurship,” Hijrah Selangor said in a statement.
The state-owned agency under Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, operates 12 business centres across Selangor, staffed by 87 officers providing funding access and mentorship.
Its financing products include the i-Bisnes scheme, offering up to RM50,000 for micro, small and medium enterprises, and the Skim Niaga Daruk Ehsan (NaDI), a women-focused loan fund capped at RM50,000 and available in Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Kuala Langat and Hulu Selangor.
Hijrah Selangor’s initiatives align with the goals of the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), which aim to strengthen the lower- and middle-income group and boost local economies through sustainable entrepreneurship.
