KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has agreed to maintain the exemption of the Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) surcharge for the period from Jan 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025, by allocating a fund of RM50.9 million, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.Advertisement This exemption applies to domestic consumers with electricity consumption of 1,500 kWh or less (or a monthly electricity bill of approximately RM677) and non-domestic consumers in the low-voltage tariff category (CM1 and ID1), which also includes Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. The Chief Minister said the subsidy to Sabah Electricity and public license holders would benefit 693,834 consumers, or 99 per cent of the total electricity consumers in Sabah. For other categories of consumers (domestic users with electricity consumption exceeding 1,500 kWh and non-domestic consumers with medium voltage or large users, as well as public street lighting), the surcharge rate would remain at 4.06 sen/kWh.
