PENAMPANG: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor visited victims of floods and landslides housed at temporary relief centres (PPS) here and Putatan on Monday.

Despite heavy rain, Hajiji said he wanted to see the conditions of those affected for himself while delivering government aid.

At Kampung Sarapung PPS, he was briefed by Penampang Municipal Council deputy president Normi Dyena John Tren before distributing assistance to 40 household heads.

The aid, channelled through the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), included cash and food baskets to ease the burden of victims and ensure their welfare at the centre.

Hajiji stressed that JPBN was always prepared to provide immediate support during natural disasters, especially during the current spell of continuous rain.

He said no disaster victim would be left behind, adding that the government would prioritise their welfare above all else.

The Chief Minister also thanked government agencies, security forces and volunteers for working tirelessly to manage the centres and relocate victims safely.

He noted that close cooperation between all parties was essential to safeguard the safety and well-being of the people during disasters.

Later in Putatan, Hajiji visited Dewan Seri Keramat PPS in Ketiau and Dewan PPR Seri Serigai PPS, where he provided assistance to 96 household heads affected by floods.

He also expressed appreciation to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) for providing RM10 million in disaster relief to Sabah, on top of the RM11 million allocation by the state government.
