JAKARTA, July 9 - Selangor is drawing lessons from Indonesia’s experience in developing high-speed rail and integrated transport systems as it advances plans for the proposed Selangor Rail Line, said state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han.
This comes after a visit to PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China’s (KCIC) office in Jakarta yesterday to gain a better understanding of the development and operations of its Whoosh high-speed railway.
The 142km Whoosh is the first high-speed rail service in Southeast Asia, connecting Jakarta and Bandung.
He added that the Selangor delegation was received by KCIC president Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, who shared an overview of the planning, implementation, and operations of the Whoosh project.
“The session covered KCIC’s role in developing and operating the high-speed rail network, as well as its implementation of transit-oriented development (TOD) to support integrated urban and transport development.
“Discussions also focused on high-speed rail operations, multimodal transport integration, TOD implementation, and the governance and financing of major transport infrastructure projects.
“As Selangor advances its plans for the Selangor Rail Line, the engagement provided useful insights into rail development, integrated transport planning, and sustainable mobility,” Ng said in a Facebook post last night.
He noted that the exchange also offered valuable perspectives on developing an efficient, connected, and future-ready public transportation system.
Ng is currently in Indonesia to attend the inaugural two-day Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS)@ASEAN, which begins in Bandung today.
