THE Selangor government has signalled its willingness to publicly release the complete investigation findings into the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion, with Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari stressing that the state administration supports full transparency once the Federal Government concludes its review.
Amirudin said the full report had already been completed, but its disclosure remained subject to coordination with federal agencies involved in the investigation and crisis management process following the explosion in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.
“The state has no issue with it. I will indeed recommend that it be disclosed to the public. The state government is transparent, and the public will also be able to review the report later.
“We are currently waiting for the Federal Government. They are also focused on resolving the crisis and related matters.
“There are many agencies involved, including federal agencies under their respective jurisdictions. That is why we must refer to them first,” Berita Harian reported him saying.
He was speaking during a press conference after officiating the launch of the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme and the Didik Kasih Programme.
Amirudin explained that the document incorporated findings prepared by an independent committee, which also included participation from opposition representatives and technical experts tasked with reviewing the official investigation conducted by enforcement and regulatory authorities.
“This includes specialists appointed to examine the investigation reports prepared by the official task force comprising the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, the Royal Malaysia Police and others, which we previously presented during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting,” he said.
The issue of public disclosure has attracted growing attention following widespread concern over the pipeline explosion and its implications for industrial safety, infrastructure oversight and emergency response coordination in densely populated urban areas.
Last month, Amirudin confirmed that the Selangor government had already submitted the independent committee’s review of the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion investigation to the Federal Government for further consideration.
The incident in Putra Heights triggered intense scrutiny over pipeline safety standards and accountability mechanisms, with both state and federal authorities facing mounting pressure to provide clarity on the causes of the explosion and measures aimed at preventing similar disasters in future. - May 22, 2026
