TAWAU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Information Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said State policies and decisions are determined by the GRS Government led by (caretaker) Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and not Putrajaya.

“Accusation to the contrary comes from opposition factions, particularly those contesting 73 seats solo,” he said.

The GRS candidate for Apas said the GRS Government prioritises stability and cooperation with the Federal Government for development, including projects such as the expansion of Tawau Airport and new housing under the People’s Residency Programme (PRR).

He explained that close collaboration with Putrajaya is necessary to ensure administrative stability and to facilitate development efforts in Sabah, including securing the required allocations.

“If there are parties trying to disrupt our good relations with the Federal Government, it is better to push them aside, as we do not want to repeat past mistakes,” he said.

He said the policy of the GRS-led State Government is to prioritise cooperation with leaders who understand local culture, rather than those who seek to divide unity.

Nizam also pointed out that opposition parties who claim to be pro-Sabah had previously aligned with parties from the peninsula through the Langkah Kinabalu move, despite their leaders being inconsistent regarding meetings that were held.

“It is merely political talk. In reality, they lack the strength to go solo and may eventually join parties from peninsula.

“The GRS policy is clear – to develop Sabah and maintain good relations with the Federal Government, just as the cooperation between GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in administering Sabah demonstrates,” he said.
