State reaffirms stand on deviant teachings

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to act against the spread of teachings declared deviant and contrary to the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah doctrine in the State.

State Religious Affairs Exco Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif (pic) said Jheains conducted an operation on May 31 following a public complaint over the 32nd Sabah Regional Jalsa Salana programme organised by Jamaat Ahmadiyah Muslim Malaysia (JAMM).

He said investigations found the three-day programme, held from May 29 to 31, was attended by an estimated 300 participants from across Sabah.

Various publications, documents and promotional materials linked to the Ahmadiyah Qadiani teachings were seized and further investigations are underway under the Sabah Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1995.

Mohd Arifin said the Ahmadiyah Qadiani teachings were declared deviant by the Sabah State Fatwa Council in 2006 and gazetted in 2007.
