As the holy day of Thaipusam draw to a close, many devotees have taken the time and opportunity to reflect on this auspicious period. However, for one little girl, observing this religious festivity in 2024 will bear a lot more meaning to her family for her particularly determined and wilful spirit.

In a recent story submitted to WORLD OF BUZZ, one Malaysian mother named Kuogila shared a very special instance which took place on Thaipusam last Thursday, 25 January.

Over a series of photos and videos shared with WORLD OF BUZZ, Kuogila displayed how her one-year-old daughter, named Vaanesha Krishaani, climbed 513 steps to a temple in Penang at 3am, just to make it for the Thaipusam festivities.

Taking place at the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple, which is also known as the Waterfall Hilltop Temple in George Town, Penang, Kuogila stated that her family had originally planned make the climb at 3am for spiritual reasons.

“For our plan, we knew that by the time the sun rose and touched our bodies, we would have reached the top of the temple. So we wanted to fulfil our prayers with the blessings of the Hindu Sun God, Lord Surya,” explained Kuogila to WORLD OF BUZZ.

With a plan in motion, Kuogila stated that her family was apprehensive about Vaanesha’s attendance for the climb, assuming she’d be clingy and not want to walk to the top, as it was very early in the morning.

However, Kuogila stated that once the prayers began, the little girl immediately felt motivated to complete the journey and walk alongside her relatives.

“The minute she picked up her milk pot, she started to walk all the way to the top. She did stop in between, but did not ask to be carried, nor did she cry. She danced to the songs and smiled at all the devotees who were around us,” added Kuogila.

In an impressive feat, the little girl eventually made her way to the temple and completed her vows.
