Kota Kinabalu: Seventy youths graduated from the Human Resource Development Department’s Sabah Talent Entrepreneurship Programme (Step) which offers a variety of skills and entrepreneurial courses, including plumbing, electrical automotive and sewing.

Its Director, Dr Norsiah Ag Duraman, said the Step project, which is funded by the Department, intends to generate entrepreneurs, particularly among Sabah’s youth.

“In addition to skills courses, Step participants receive various forms of assistance to enable them to start a business immediately after completing the training.

“For example, after completing their course, Step participants in the Mobile Mechanic are assisted in the form of a motorcycle to start their mobile workshop business.

Also present was Akademi Jahitan Kota Kinabalu (AJKK) Manager Alicia Lenson.

After completing their Step course at AJKK, 10 participants in the apparel manufacturing entrepreneurship received their certificates.

Alicia said her organisation is devoted to offering training through Step to assist the government in producing talented young entrepreneurs.

“I welcome the collaboration between AJKK and the Department under the Step programme which helps shape the entrepreneurial identity of Sabah youths,” she said.
