Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old man who repeatedly raped his stepdaughter until she is pregnant, was jailed for a total of 75 years plus 15 strokes of the cane.
The man pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to six counts of raping the 14-year-old girl since she was 13 years old.

The man had raped the girl between January and June this year at a house in a village in Tuaran.

Read more For the first three charges, the court imposed 10 years of imprisonment plus two strokes of the cane and the sentence to be served concurrently.
For the other three charges, he was also sentenced to 15 years’ jail plus three strokes of the cane, also to be served concurrently.

The man was also ordered to undergo police supervision for three years after completing the jail sentences.

In mitigation, the man who was not represented asked for leniency and for the jail sentence to be run concurrently.
However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim urged for a deterrent sentence due to the seriousness of the offence, including the trauma suffered by the girl.
Nurul submitted that the schoolgirl is just 14 years old and now pregnant adding that, the baby will not have a father to care.
The man was arrested on Nov 29, this year following a police report lodged by the victim.
