A Mohali court has sentenced a Hardwar native to life imprisonment for murdering her two-year-old stepdaughter in November 2024.
Deceased Zara Malik’s father Mohammad Nadeem had complained against his second wife Ayesha Parveen to the Mohali SSP.
After he solemnised his second marriage with Ayesha Parveen, she did not want to keep Zara and used to fight with him on the issue. On August 16, 2024, Zara told him that her stepmother had beaten her. The next day when he returned home, he saw Zara lying unconscious.
He took her to Civil Hospital, Phase 6, Mohali, where doctors declared her dead. When Nadeem confronted Ayesha, she reportedly confessed to Zara’s murder.
