
Kota Kinabalu: Steps Kota Kinabalu and White Eagle are the boys and girls winners respectively in the just concluded Sabah Maju Cup (SMJ) Hockey Under-14 Championship organised by Kota Kinabalu District Hockey Association at the Likas Hockey Stadium over the weekend.
Steps edged SMK Likas 1-0 with the winning goal scored by Elazer Brendly in the final while White Eagle defeated SMK Kota Marudu 2-1 on penalty strokes.
Edlin Syntia Johnny and LC Lia Anisa Raismon converted from the spot for White Eagle and SMK Kota Marudu only replied through Cholen Gerald Joe.
In the semi-finals, Steps beat Island Boys 2-0 while SMK Likas defeated Black Eagle 4-3 on penalties.
The girls category saw SMK Kota Marudu win 2-0 on penalties over the Island Girls team and White Eagle beat SK Lampaki (2) 2-1 also on penalties.
The closing ceremony was officiated by the Chief Minister’s political secretary Ceasar Mandela Malakum.
