SHAH ALAM, July 8 - The records relating to the shareholdings of Tan Sri Azam Baki are not public documents and cannot be disclosed, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
The issue regarding asset ownership and declaration, including the shareholdings of the former Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner, was examined by a Special Investigation Committee established on February 13.
“The Committee concluded its investigation independently, transparently, and professionally, and the findings were presented to the Cabinet.
“Regarding the request for a list of share purchase transactions and the duration of holdings exceeding a certain value, the information sought was part of investigation documents, personal data, and asset declarations protected under prevailing laws and does not constitute a public document,” she said in a Parliamentary written reply published yesterday.
Azalina was responding to Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung’s query on the list of share purchase transactions by Azam from 2012 to 2026, and to state the period during which his total shareholdings exceeded RM100,000.
She also assured that all relevant aspects, including share ownership and compliance with prevailing regulations, were scrutinised during the investigation.
“Appropriate action was taken based on the committee's findings. Accordingly, should there be any developments or official decisions regarding this matter that warrant public disclosure, an announcement will be made by the Office of the Chief Secretary to the Government, consistent with the media statement issued on March 31,” Azalina said.
