Kota Kinabalu: A Proton Saga stolen during a break-in at a house occupied by female Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students was recovered hours later at a waste disposal area in Kingfisher on Sunday.

Two laptops, along with the car and house keys, were also stolen in the incident, which occurred between 2am and 9am.

Kota Kinabalu Police Chief ACP Shahrudin Mat Husain confirmed the incident and said all the students were safe.

“All the female students are safe as they were in their rooms on the upper floor,” he said when contacted.

He said the stolen items had been kept on the ground floor of the house.

The two laptops were identified as a blue HP and a grey Lenovo.

Shahrudin said the Proton Saga was recovered at about 10am in a locked condition at a Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) waste disposal area in Kingfisher.

He said the suspect had yet to be identified and no arrest had been made.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
