The recent petrol bomb attack in Kepong Baru isn’t just a crime — it’s a warning. A woman, previously renting the targeted home, received a video of the attack from the perpetrator, who threatened further violence if she failed to repay a debt. https://newswav.com/A2504_0Jh9pF?s=A_yxleuul&language=en

According to Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, the culprit is believed to be a local runner for a Singapore-based loan shark syndicate. https://newswav.com/A2504_0Jh9pF?s=A_yxleuul&language=en

This was not a petty threat. It was a calculated act of terror meant to intimidate, instill fear, and demonstrate power. https://newswav.com/A2504_0Jh9pF?s=A_yxleuul&language=en

When criminals act with such audacity — recording their crimes and sending videos to victims — it shows a dangerous confidence in their ability to evade justice. https://newswav.com/A2504_0Jh9pF?s=A_yxleuul&language=en

If authorities fail to act swiftly and decisively, these incidents will not remain isolated. They will multiply. What’s at stake is more than property or personal safety — it’s the rule of law and the very fabric of public trust.

Malaysia cannot allow syndicates to operate with impunity. We must not allow intimidation to become a way of life. Our peaceful neighbourhoods cannot be held hostage by cross-border criminal networks.

The police must treat this not just as an isolated criminal case but as part of a wider threat that requires coordination at the national and regional level.

As a policy response, the Ministry of Home Affairs should initiate a dedicated cross-border enforcement task force in collaboration with regional counterparts, including Singaporean authorities. In parallel, Parliament should fast-track legislation that imposes heavier penalties for criminal intimidation involving explosives or arson.

The message must be clear: Malaysia will not be a playground for gangsters.

Let’s not wait for a tragedy to galvanise action. Let's act before fear becomes normal, and justice an afafterthought.

Let's send a strong message to Singapore-based loan sharks that Malaysia doesn't tolerate intimidation.
