Kota Kinabalu: Gagasan Rakyat Darau Chief Datuk Razali Razi cautioned against using the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir to seek political mileage or social media fame.

He was speaking ahead of tahlil prayers for Zara attended by 200 at the Masjid Al-Munir in Kampung Darau on Friday evening.

Razali said he respects netizens seeking justice, but tells those chasing popularity to stop.

He urged the public to avoid speculation, stressing that an inquest is needed to reveal the truth.

“Either enforce or review the school’s anti-bullying system, if it’s loose, tighten it.

“Treat this seriously, but don’t politicise it to become a hero.

“Zara must be remembered with compassion,” he said, adding that prayers are welcome.
