Stop stirring up issues, says PM

THE PRIME Minister slammed certain politicians in the peninsula still trying to stir up issues despite the ringgit having stabilised and foreign investors returning to Malaysia with huge financial funds.

"Our ringgit is stable already. Global investors like Amazon are coming in with RM 26 billion and Google is coming with RM 9.4 billion.

"Our economy strengthened by 18.1 per cent in last month. However, some politicians in the peninsula are still trying to stir up trouble as they are in denial.

"I am glad that in Sabah and Sarawak, our politicians do not focus on political conflicts but on the growth of their states," Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

Speaking at the launch of the Madani Rakyat Sarawak Sayangku programmes in Miri, Anwar said he is focussing on helping all the rakyat in east Malaysia to catch up with the rest of the country.

He said that he welcomes feedback and ideas from the rakyat.

"I welcome feedback and even criticism. I am always willing to listen.

"That is why I am here visiting Miri and tomorrow I will go to Kapit to see the developments there," he said.

Anwar said he would extend the Madani Rakyat programmes of selling essential items at discounted rates and bringing mobile government agencies services to all rural districts.

"I also want to extend these programmes to all very remote villages and longhouses," he said.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said the state government will support these Madani outreaches using their manpower resources.

He said Sarawak will support the federal programmes that bring good to the grassroots communities. - September 28, 2024
