Storm warning issued for four states, KL and Putrajaya

The Malaysian Meteorological Department warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in four states and two federal territories until 7 pm today.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe weather warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds.

The alert is in effect for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and parts of four states until 7 pm today.

The warning covers all areas within the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Selangor, the affected districts are Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

Several areas in Perak are also included, namely Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim.

In Johor, the warning applies to Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru.

The alert also covers multiple divisions in Sarawak, including Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu (Kanowit), Mukah (Tanjung Manis), Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh), and Miri (Telang Usan).

MetMalaysia issued the statement at 4 pm today.
