A student’s simple request for help to buy textbooks has touched many online, after Uncle Kentang, also known as Kuan Chee Heng, shared that the boy was determined to continue his studies despite not receiving support from his parents.

According to the post, the student’s parents reportedly wanted him to start working to help support the family. However, the boy remained firm about continuing his education.

Asked for RM77 to buy books

In the screenshot shared by Uncle Kentang, the student politely messaged him after finishing his Semester 2 exams, saying he needed help buying several textbooks which cost RM77.

The student also mentioned that he had already bought his Pengajian Am textbook, so he did not need help with that subject.

“Could you please help me with the cost?” he wrote, before ending the message with “Thank you uncle.”

‘We shall support his spirit’

Uncle Kentang said that although the boy did not have his parents’ support, he was still trying to continue his studies on his own.

He also encouraged others to support the student’s spirit and dream of pursuing higher education.

Many netizens were moved by the post, with several saying the student deserved support for choosing education despite his difficult situation.

One commenter thanked Uncle Kentang for helping, writing that he had done a good thing and deserved good things in return.

Another said the student was not asking for an easy life, but only for a chance at a better future.
