Street kids shelters in key towns but not Lahad Datu for security reasons: Minister

TAWAU: Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk James Ratib said temporary protection shelters (PPS) and the budget has been allocated to house street children locations in Tawau, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu.

However, it would not be implemented in Lahad Datu due to security reasons.

He said that the number of people rescued in Kota Kinabalu as recorded by the Sabah General Welfare Services Department (JPKA) was 165 people.
