Kota Kinabalu: The spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri continues to serve as a key driver in strengthening unity among Sabah’s multi-ethnic and multi-religious communities, forming the foundation of peace and harmony in the State.

Head of State Tun Musa Aman said peace is the most vital element in shaping the dynamics of both the people and the nation, and it should be cherished through obedience to Allah SWT and His Messenger, as well as a commitment to preserving social cohesion.

“Without unity, society becomes easily divided, which is detrimental. Unity is not just about coming together physically but also in thought, purpose and action. In essence, unity is the key to social harmony.

“Differences in culture, religion and tradition should be respected and harnessed to foster mutual appreciation and eliminate suspicion,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message.

He highlighted that good education, inclusive policies and efforts to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor are important steps to promote justice and social well-being.

“Let us collectively strive for Allah SWT’s blessings by pooling our energy and resources to improve all aspects of life, including faith, economy, education and social welfare,” he added.

Musa also encouraged the public to provide assistance to those in need according to their means.

“This is a way to share blessings, strengthen relationships, foster goodwill and reinforce unity, especially during the Aidilfitri celebrations,” he said.

He emphasised that Hari Raya is a time for joy and for practising the noble traditions of visiting one another and seeking forgiveness.

“I pray that this year’s Aidilfitri celebrations will be more vibrant and meaningful, strengthening bonds and unity among Sabah’s diverse communities and Malaysia at large,” he said.

Musa also reminded the public to prioritise health and safety for themselves and their families during the festivities.

“Exercise moderation in eating and drinking, and be cautious on the roads, as the festive season often sees a rise in accidents, which can result in serious injury or loss of life,” he cautioned.

He expressed appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of security personnel who risk their lives to safeguard the people and defend national sovereignty.

“Remember and value their service, and pray that they receive Allah SWT’s guidance and mercy in carrying their heavy and challenging responsibilities. May their sacrifices be greatly rewarded by Allah SWT,” he added.

Musa noted that the people have completed the fasting month of Ramadan with sincerity and piety and are now ready to celebrate the meaningful month of Syawal.

“Aidilfitri is enlivened with the recitation of takbir, tahlil and tahmid, symbolising gratitude and praise to Allah SWT for all blessings and the triumph of enduring Ramadan’s trials. May our worship be accepted and our piety truly elevated,” he said.

Concluding his message, Tun Musa and his family extended Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings, seeking forgiveness in both words and deeds, to all, particularly Muslims celebrating the festival.
