FAMILIES play a pivotal role in shaping a compassionate, ethical, and resilient society, said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, wife of the Prime Minister, during the National Family Month 2025 (BKK2025) celebrations at Padang Semarak, Taman Wetland today.

“In a world growing increasingly complex with social media challenges, life pressures, and mental health issues, the family must serve as a sanctuary and source of strength for every member of society,” she said.

Dr Wan Azizah urged parents to remain attentive to their children’s development, including monitoring social media activity and emotional changes, while fostering open communication within the family. “We may not be able to control the world outside, but we can control our homes. Fill our homes with love, care, and guidance,” she said.

She stressed that strengthening the family unit should be underpinned by religious guidance, noble values, and moral integrity to nurture a generation resilient against negative influences.

Acknowledging the role of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) and the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), Dr Wan Azizah commended the ongoing initiatives supporting family empowerment.

“I am confident that all agencies under KPWKM, such as JKM, JPW, the National Welfare Foundation, the Board of Counsellors, and the Social Institute of Malaysia, play vital roles in reinforcing families both directly and indirectly,” she added.

She reminded the public not to wait until problems escalate before seeking help, encouraging the use of government-provided support services. Dr Wan Azizah also called on Malaysians to renew bonds of love within their families and to responsibly fulfil their roles as parents, children, and partners. “Reconnect the love between family members if there has been a separation. Do not shirk your responsibilities. There is no shame in seeking help,” she said. - November 9, 2025
