“Strict action will be taken” – PDRM to Probe Its Viral Off-Duty Officer Who Slapped Motorcyclist in Johor

A video has been circulating recently, showing a motorcyclist being stopped by another man on a motorcycle at a fuel station in Johor, who was later confirmed to be a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer.

In the viral dashcam footage, the officer, dressed in plain clothes, can be seen approaching the victim, who was travelling with a female pillion rider, before slapping him and subsequently identifying himself.

PDRM confirms the officer was on leave during the fuel station slapping incident

The PDRM has issued a statement confirming the incident, which is believed to have occurred last Sunday (11 January) at approximately 6:50 PM at a petrol station in Taman Perling.

According to Johor Bahru Utara District Police Acting Chief, Superintendent Azrol Anuar Nor, preliminary investigations have identified the individual involved as a police officer serving at the Johor Bahru Utara District Police Headquarters.

“We have seen a video circulating on social media showing a man riding a motorcycle being slapped by another man at a fuel station.

“The individual involved has been identified as a police officer from the Johor Bahru Utara District Police Headquarters, who was on leave at the time of the incident,” the statement revealed.

The victim has since been identified

Azrol said the police have not yet received any official reports about the incident. However, they have identified the victim and are working to locate him to assist with the investigation.

“The police take any allegations of misconduct involving officers very seriously. An internal investigation has been launched, and strict action will be taken if any laws, regulations, or established codes of conduct have been breached.

“We also urge the public not to speculate about this matter. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward. The police assure that the investigation will be carried out transparently, fairly, and with integrity,” Azrol stated.
