
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Saturday reported a strong aftershock in Sarangani.
In a report by the agency, the magnitude 5.7 quake’s epicenter was 21 kilometers west of Balut Island in Davao Occidental.
While Phivolcs said it was an aftershock from the magnitude 7.8 Sarangani quake from last Monday, further damage was expected.
General Santos City, one of the areas affected by last Monday’s quake, was reported to have an instrumental intensity level of Intensity V, while Malapatan, Malungon, Maasim and Kiamba in Sarangani, Tupi and T’boli in South Cotabato, and Santa Maria in Davao Occidental, recorded at Intensity IV.
