Strong governance vital for cooperatives to stay competitive, says Masidi

Kota Kinabalu: Sound management, strong governance, and business adaptability are vital to ensuring that cooperatives remain competitive and continue to benefit Sabahans, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

Masidi, who is also the State Finance Minister, noted that the State Government remains committed to supporting the cooperative movement as a catalyst for inclusive economic growth under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 roadmap.

He praised Koperasi Green Sabah Berhad for its socio-economic contributions and its continuous ability to diversify business activities since its establishment in 1959.

The minister urged other cooperatives across Sabah to emulate the organisation's adaptive approach in identifying potential growth sectors within today's changing economic landscape.

Masidi expressed his appreciation following a briefing on the cooperative's developments and plans during a courtesy visit led by its chairman, Datuk Mohd Salleh Abbas.
