Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old male student was found dead inside a building at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
Closed-circuit television footage showed him falling at 6.09pm on Wednesday.
He was found lying on the stage inside the premises by two workers.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda said police received a report at 10.10am, Thursday.
“Based on investigations, there are no criminal elements involved,” Kasim said, adding the case has been classified as Sudden Death.
Further investigations are ongoing. An external examination revealed no suspicious injuries apart from those consistent with a fall.
UMS urged the public to refrain from making unverified speculation, assumptions or statements that could disrupt the investigation.
UMS extended its deepest condolences and sympathy to the victim’s family and pledged full cooperation with the authorities.
