KOTA KINABALU: The Coroner’s Court heard that a mother of an SMKA Tun Mustapha student had repeatedly complained to chief warden Azhari Abd Sagap about her daughter’s belongings being tampered with and the hostel's conditions.
Counsel Joan Goh tendered Telegram messages showing complaints that the student’s locker was prised open, shoes and iron used without permission, a phone card taken, and personal items missing.
The mother also voiced concern about her daughter’s well-being and gossips involving her with other students.
Azhari, testifying as the eighth witness in Zara Qairina Mahathir’s inquest, said he investigated but some complaints lacked proof and were settled as misunderstandings.
