
Emphasising the need for collective action to combat pollution and environmental degradation, students of Saraswati College, Rani Ka Bagh, participated in the “Clean Air, Green Amritsar” campaign, pledging to contribute towards making the holy city cleaner and greener.
Addressing the gathering, AAP leader Virat Devgan urged students to play an active role in environmental protection by adopting practices such as maintaining cleanliness, conserving water, planting trees and reducing the use of plastic in their daily lives. He said the younger generation has a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future and creating awareness about environmental issues within society.
“Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. Every individual can contribute through small but meaningful actions that help reduce pollution and preserve natural resources,” Devgan said.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, who took a pledge to support efforts aimed at improving air quality and promoting a cleaner environment in the city.
Among those present on the occasion were Rajnish Sharma, Managing Director of Shri Amritsar Diagnostics Centre; Bhola Nath Sharma; Onkaar Nath Sharma; Narinder Dutta; Sunil Kumar; Sudesh Nischal; and Sanjeev Nischal. The guests appreciated the initiative and lauded the efforts of the college in encouraging environmental awareness among youth.
The speakers highlighted the growing challenges posed by pollution and stressed the importance of public participation in cleanliness drives, tree plantation campaigns and responsible waste management practices. They also encouraged students to act as ambassadors of environmental conservation within their communities.
The programme concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to work towards a cleaner, greener and pollution-free Amritsar.
