Students who do not wear Jalur Gemilang badge will not be punished

STUDENTS who do not wear the Jalur Gemilang flag on their school uniforms will not be punished.

This is according to a latest circular on the implementation of the initiative issued by the Ministry of Education dated March 28.

The ministry said the initiative of the national flag badges was aimed at fostering unity and patriotism, not to punish any student.

It was earlier reported that all students in educational institutions under the MOE must wear a national flag badge on their uniforms from April 21,2025.

Education director-general Datuk Azman Adnan, in an earlier circular said the guideline for wearing a national flag badge on student uniforms was approved by the Cabinet on February 14, 2025.

The new directive applies to all government schools, government-aided schools, matriculation colleges and Institutes of Teacher Education (IPG).

According to the guideline, students are required to wear a national flag badge, measuring 5cm in length and 2.5cm in width, on the right side of their uniform, parallel to their name tags.

Students cannot alter the size, shape, colour or position of the badge on their uniforms and must replace any worn-out or faded badges with new ones.

Each student will be provided with two Jalur Gemilang badges free of charge for the 2025/2026 school session. - March 28, 2025
