The Amritsar Chapter of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) has launched the IDA-Amritsar Dental Study Circle to provide a platform for young dentists to improve their knowledge and clinical skills.
The initiative has been started under the leadership of IDA-Amritsar president Dr Kamaldeep Sharma and Secretary Dr Nitin Verma. The main aim of the study circle is to bridge the gap between dental education in colleges and the rapidly changing field of modern dentistry.
The study circle will serve as an academic forum where young dental professionals can learn from experienced practitioners, gain practical knowledge and enhance their clinical expertise.
The first academic session of the study circle featured a lecture by renowned dentist Dr Ramandeep Singh Bhullar on the topic, ‘Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice.’ During the session, he shared valuable insights on identifying, preventing and managing medical emergencies that may arise during dental treatment. Participants appreciated the session and described it as highly informative and beneficial.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kamaldeep Sharma said that the study circle was a long-cherished vision aimed at helping young dentists sharpen their professional skills under the guidance of senior clinicians. He noted that new technologies and treatment methods are constantly emerging in dentistry, making it essential for practitioners to stay updated.
He added that the initiative would also prepare dentists to benefit from future academic interactions with experts from India and abroad. Dr Nitin Verma said that IDA remains committed to promoting continuous learning and professional excellence among its members. He informed that the study circle would regularly organise lectures, workshops, clinical discussions, and skill-development programmes.
