No cell phone and no smoking at petrol stations, especially when you’re filling up petrol for your vehicle. It only takes about 5 minutes for the process, so it shouldn’t be that hard, right?
A Malaysian bus driver, however, saw it fit to do as he pleased. In a viral video shared by an X user @cool_wannabe82, a bus driver is seen casually smoking while filling up fuel. The location stated that it was at a gas station in Muallim, Perak.
It is unclear if the driver was carrying any passengers at the time, but regardless, the consequences were still damaging given how flammable gas is.
That was not the worst. When the man was done smoking, he threw the cigarette bud on the ground in the same area without being cautious.
The fuel tends to spill a little at times when we lift the nozzle, so imagine what could’ve happened if the cigarette bud “collided” with the fuel droplets on the ground. It would be a “bombastic” catastrophe.
“What do you think was in the head of the bus driver? The passengers would’ve been barbecued if they were unlucky.”
According to Fire and Flame, Diesel needs a higher heating point before it catches fire, unlike petrol. Regardless, it doesn’t mean you’re allowed to light up your cancer stick near the place. It IS still flammable!
At the same time, the driver’s self-given leniency also angered many netizens who were not happy to see how he jeopardised the safety of others with his cancer stick.
“People like this would’ve just told you nothing would happen.”
“People today can’t take criticism, they would’ve scolded you back.”
“Diesel is not as flammable as petrol, which explains why he had the guts to do so.”
“Please report this! This is serious!”
“Some of them can’t take criticism. They would only learn their lesson when the fire starts blazing.”
“This is among the stupid species in Malaysia. Another one would be those who don’t turn off their engines when refueling. I will clap if the car explodes!”

Regardless of the type of fuel, no smoking means no smoking. It’s not hard to follow the rules, and it’s even tougher for you to deal with the consequences if things blow up.
