SHAH ALAM, Aug 3 — The resumption of operations by six airlines at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) is expected to strengthen maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the state government will intensify efforts to expand the aerospace sector in Selangor by leveraging the increased operations of the aviation industry through LTSAAS.
“Selangor has 67 per cent of the 250 aerospace-related companies in Malaysia. They operate in Serendah, Sepang, and Subang.
“It also has Tier One industry players like UMW Aerospace in Serendah, which builds casings for Rolls Royce Trent 1000 and Trent 7000 aircraft engines used for Boeing and Airbus aeroplanes.
“Therefore, the resumption of operations by six airlines in Subang will strengthen the growth of the aerospace sector, like aircraft manufacturing and maintenance in Selangor and in the Klang Valley,” he told Media Selangor yesterday.
On Tuesday (July 30), Transport Minister Anthony Loke said six airlines would resume operations at LTSAAS starting on Thursday (August 1), using single-aisle aircraft.
The six airlines are FireFly, AirAsia Malaysia, Batik Air Malaysia, SKS Airways, Transnusa, and Scoot Pte Ltd.
He said that flight operations would run from 6am to 10pm only, with no midnight flights, as the airport is located in a residential area.
