
Tuaran: The Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry (KPDN) Tuaran confiscated 5,300 litres of subsidised diesel in an operation dubbed “Ops Tiris.”
KPDN Tuaran Chief Enforcement Officer Saripuddin Moleng said the 11am operation on Friday was conducted at a construction site store in Rugading.
He said the diesel was kept in a square iron tank equipped with an electronic meter pump.
“All the items, estimated to be worth RM25,700, were seized and a local man, believed to be the store’s supervisor, was detained,” he said.

Read more Saripuddin said initial investigations showed the subsidised diesel was obtained from a legitimate industrial diesel supplier but the employee failed to produce any related documents or permit to store the controlled good at the location.
“This case will be investigated in accordance with Section 20(1) of the Supply Control Act 1961 for keeping controlled goods in a place without the permission of the controller,” he added.
Under the Supply Control Act 1961 (Act 122), Saripuddin said any individual convicted of an offence could be fined not more than RM1 million and for subsequent offences not more than RM3 million or imprisonment not exceeding three years, or both, on conviction.
Whereas for companies, if convicted of the offence, it could carry a fine not exceeding RM2 million and for subsequent offences, not exceeding RM5 million.
Saripudion said the Ministry would temporarily suspend the licence of the gas station operator involved until the investigation is completed.
