PENAMPANG: Residents in flood-prone Sugud can expect to breathe a sigh of relief by the middle of next year with the flood mitigation project along the Sugud River now underway.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said construction work to widen and deepen the Sugud River by 1.13km will take about nine months to complete.
“Problems (with land reclamation) that were hindering this project to start are now resolved. So we can start, the machinery and contractors are already here on site,” he told a press conference after visiting the project site, here, Wednesday.
