In a heartfelt display of solidarity and compassion, The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, extended financial aid to families affected by the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights. Each of the 308 impacted households received RM1,000 from the King, who made a personal visit to the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Masjid Putra Heights.
Sultan Ibrahim personally handed over the contributions to the heads of households (KIR) and took time to speak with victims, offering words of comfort and expressing his deep concern for their well-being.
Joining His Majesty during the visit was the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. Also present were key officials including Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari; Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar; and Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, according to a report by Kosmo!.
The King later proceeded to the Incident Control Post (PKTK) at Jalan Putra Harmoni where he received a detailed briefing on the situation. Authorities provided updates on the progress of the investigation and the emergency response efforts currently underway.
The fire, which erupted on Tuesday, April 1, around 8.10am, involved a Petronas gas pipeline and sent flames soaring more than 30 metres into the air. A total of 195 homes in the residential area were affected by the blaze, displacing hundreds of residents and prompting swift intervention from emergency services.
His Majesty's visit and contribution were deeply appreciated by the affected families, offering not just financial relief but also a sense of hope and reassurance during a difficult time.
