Tengku Besar Terengganu, Fatimah @ Sharifah Nong Alsagoff Abdillah, the mother of Terengganu’s Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, passed away earlier today.
The Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Mohd Sophian Abu Bakar, in a statement, said the Tengku Besar of Terengganu died at 3.17am in Kuala Lumpur.
Her remains were flown to Kuala Terengganu where she was taken to Istana Al-Muktafi Billah. She will then be taken to the Masjid Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Royal Mausoleum, where she will be buried after the Asar prayers.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong extended their condolences to Sultan Mizan and the Terengganu royal family.
There will be a five-day mourning period in Terengganu, starting today.
