SULTAN of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah wants the suspect in the murder case of a 37-year-old e-commerce seller found by the riverbank near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge here to be arrested fast.
His Majesty also decreed that appropriate punishment should be imposed on the involved suspect if the is convicted of murder.
"Cruel and inhumane," His Majesty decreed through a post on the Pahang Sultanate's Facebook page today.
Earlier, Al-Sultan Abdullah visited the family of the murder victim at the Forensic Unit, Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA).
His Majesty was accompanied by Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and the Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
During the visit, His Majesty shared a few words of encouragement with the victim's husband, Mohammad Afiq Akhmal Nudin, 31.
Based on reports, the body of Norshamira Zainal was found by the riverbank near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge yesterday.
Following that, a team of policemen along with forensic pathology experts from HTAA conducted further investigations at the scene.
Pahang police chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, said his team is looking for a 37-year-old man in connection with the death of the female trader.
He said that, based on preliminary investigations, the suspect has a criminal record.
"This case is still under investigation, including identifying the motive behind the incident. So far, the identity of the suspect has been identified and efforts to locate them are underway.
"The suspect is not from this state (Pahang) but resides in this district. There is no relationship between the suspect and the victim," he added.
Mohammad Afiq said at the HTAA that his wife was running a chilli paste business, and he worked at a factory in Inderapura.
They have been married for five years and have a five-year-old son.
He said his wife would usually prepare the orders on Wednesdays to Fridays and personally deliver them.
"On Wednesday evening, she went out, and she contacted me around 7:30 pm, saying she would be back around 10:30 pm.
"However, my wife did not return home till the following day, around 5 am, and I informed my father-in-law and searched for her with friends," he said.
They found her car near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge, and later, his friend discovered her body by the river. - February 14, 2025
