SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has been officially informed of Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s apology for his previous statement, which was deemed disrespectful.

This is according to a Facebook post by the Selangor Royal Office, which also uploaded a copy of Sanusi’s letter of apology to the ruler.

“The letter, dated September 25, 2024, included an apology for his remarks, which were the subject of a court case and were deemed offensive and disrespectful to His Royal Highness.

“Sanusi also acknowledged his remarks had caused discomfort and offended the feelings of His Royal Highness, expressing deep regret over the negative impact of his statement,” the palace said today.

However, the post did not mention if Sultan Sharafuddin had accepted the apology.

Yesterday, Sanusi was reported to have issued an official apology to His Royal Highness, as well as to the people of Selangor and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, over the former’s remarks, which were seen as belittling the appointment of the menteri besar.

Sanusi also vowed to be more cautious when making statements in the future and to ensure all his remarks align with the respectful customs of Malay culture, which upholds the Malay rulers and the royal institution.

On July 18 last year, the Jeneri assemblyman was charged at the Shah Alam High Court for the remarks he made during the Selangor state election campaign at Taman Selayang Mutiara, Gombak, on July 11.
