KUALA LANGAT, Feb 8 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced the state-level Chinese New Year celebration at the Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom tonight.
The arrival of His Royal Highness, accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, was warmly welcomed by over 30,000 people of various races, accompanied by the rhythmic beat of Chinese cultural drums.
Also in attendance was the Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, together with his wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad, state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han, as well as Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Their Royal Highnesses then took part in the Yee Sang tossing ceremony as a symbolic gesture to officiate the celebration, and enjoyed a variety of cultural performances while dining.
Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, along with Masdiana, also presented ang pau to selected children under the age of 12 and senior citizens.
Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin later spent time visiting the lantern festival and floral exhibition on the temple grounds before departing.
