PETALING JAYA: Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) has secured an additional RM920.8 million contract for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out works at a data centre development in Johor.
Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, received a Letter of Award for Variation from a US-headquartered multinational technology corporation on Nov 4, according to its filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The additional works involve MEP fit-out works for the ongoing development of a data centre in Johor, with completion targeted by the first quarter of 2028.
SunCon said the letter of award also serves as the instruction to commence the additional works.
The group said the variation works are not expected to have an immediate material effect on its earnings per share, net assets per share and gearing for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026.
However, barring unforeseen circumstances, the additional works are expected to contribute positively to the group’s earnings from FY26 onwards.
The contract is subject to normal construction-related risks, including fluctuations in material prices, although SunCon expects these risks to be mitigated by its subsidiary’s experience and expertise in construction and data centre development projects.
With the latest award, SunCon has secured RM8.06 billion worth of new orders during the current financial year, including the variation works.
Its total outstanding order book stood at RM11.7 billion as at Nov 4, 2026.
