AMERICAN comedian Chrissie Mayr appeared unaffected by the criticisms she received from Malaysians for supporting Jocelyn Chia.

In fact, she “welcomed” all the ideas to make jokes about the 9/11 attack.

In her Twitter post not long after Chia’s MH370 remark blew up on the Internet, Mayr said it is never part of a comedian’s job to avoid a subject that will trigger sensitivity.

She further said this is because it is a comedian’s job to be funny.

Her tweet did not take long to circulate, and it was not spared from Malaysian netizens’ wrath.

She also took the opportunity to poke fun at many Malaysians who commented on her Twitter posts, including the “broken English” used by some commenters.

The Singapore-born Chia recently faced backlash for a joke about the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

A video clip of her distasteful stand-up act, which she posted on one of her social media accounts, went viral, but TikTok removed the video, citing a violation of their hate speech guidelines.
