THIRTEEN students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam joined forces to organise a heartwarming friendly futsal tournament, paying tribute to our national blind football team, Harimau Buta. The event, held at the Hockey Stadium UiTM Shah Alam, was a resounding success, leaving a profound impact on all who attended.
The organising committee, comprised of final-year students from the College of Computing, Informatics and Media, known as PRime Agency, under the astute leadership of Nelly Natasha, alongside the guidance of esteemed lecturer Abuzar Abdul Halim, spared no effort in ensuring the event was a testament to unity, compassion, and the human spirit.
The primary goal of this event is to generate support and donations for the Blind Football Association of Malaysia (BFAM) in preparation for their participation in the ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia this June. The event aims to raise funds through both in-kind contributions and monetary donations, enabling BFAM to compete at the highest level of football.
PRime Agency expressed their genuine admiration for the one-day event emphasising its ability to captivate, enlighten, and touch the hearts of attendees. Collaborating with the national blind football team was a privilege that PRime Agency cherished deeply, and they thoroughly enjoyed working alongside their esteemed coach, Sunny Shalesh, to make this event a reality.
“We were truly amazed by the impact of the event, which surpassed our expectations. The crowd had an enjoyable time throughout the night, filled with laughter and even tears of joy as they witnessed the passion and determination of the visually impaired athletes. It was truly heartwarming to see the profound effect that their performances had on everyone present.”
The tournament itself served as an exhilarating experience for participants, who passionately registered to contribute towards a noble cause, raising funds for the Blind Football Association Malaysia (BFAM). Witnessing the enthusiastic engagement of the public further solidified the tournament’s status as a thrilling spectacle.
“We were informed that many of the attendees witnessed such sports for the first time, and it was truly an eye-opening and inspiring experience for them. The exhibition match between Harimau Buta and UiTM United was a remarkable highlight, showcasing the talent, skill, and determination of blind footballers while fostering unity and camaraderie among players and spectators.”
Coach Sunny Shalesh engaged with the public in an interactive discussion on blind football, leaving attendees with a newfound understanding of the challenges and triumphs faced by visually impaired athletes. This eye-opening encounter fostered empathy and respect for their abilities, leaving an indelible mark on everyone present.
PRime Agency expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers for their selfless contributions to the event’s success. The community’s overwhelming support reaffirms our society’s unity and compassion. The friendly futsal tournament demonstrates the power of unity, inclusivity, and inspiration. It reminds us that with determination and compassion, we can overcome any obstacles.
