Surgeon Gianpaolo Tartaro says he doesn't know why Napoli striker Victor Osimhen still plays in a protective mask.
Tartaro performed facial surgery on Osimhen last season.
Asked why the Nigeria striker still wears the mark, Tartaro told Il Mattino: "Superstition? I don't know. It was modeled and remodeled with the assistance of the player so that it doesn't create the slightest discomfort.
"I continue to be in contact with the Napoli team doctor, Canonico, for updates. Sooner or later we will have to think about removing the plates and screws that were applied after the serious accident. We felt satisfied also for another aspect: not having left any external scar."
