Dramatic video shows the moment Japanese surgeons clung to an operating table to shield a patient as a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the country.
CCTV footage from Kumamoto General Hospital shows the room beginning to violently shake as tables, chairs and medical equipment went flying.
Two doctors can be seen clinging to the table as they tried to protect the patient, who was undergoing an abdominal procedure.
Four surgeries which were underway when the earthquake hit were all successfully completed, the hospital confirmed.
The earthquake hit the southern region of the Japanese island of Kyushu on 28 July, killing at least 30 people. As of Saturday (8 August), around 6,700 residents in Kumamoto remain in evacuation centres.
